2.0 JTDm EGT sensor

Post by TribesMan » 03 Mar 2013, 12:54

Hi yani...

2.0JTDm EURO5 engine should be equipped with EGT sensor (it measures exhaust temperature, mounted on the exhaust manifold before turbo), but in MES the only sensor available is particle filter temperature sensor.

Could you check if there is any option to enable this?

Thanks!

Me again :D

Today I had some time to play with this engine, and there are two sensors. You can see them easily if you lift up the bonnet. One is mounted on exhaust manifold, and other on particle filter. Both connectors are easily accessible.
So I tried to disconnect one and another.
If I disconnect one before turbo I get error P242A - Turbo input temperature sensor, if I disconnect one after turbo I get error P2085 - Temperature sensor on particle filter input.

I would really need this sensor to be somehow enabled. This engines have EGT protection for anti-tuning. It is very hard to adjust the EGT temperature limiter if you don't know the actual temperature when you increase the engine power...

Car is 159 2.0 JTDm

So you have two sensors and you disconnected each of them. Did you use MES to read the Turbo and DPF temp error codes?

If so is not Turbo Inlet Temp the same this as EGT?

Or are you saying that you used Examiner/wiTECH to read the codes when you disconnected the sensors?

I used MES to read turbo and DPF error codes...

Turbo inlet temp is the same as EGT, sensor is located on the exhaust manifold, just before the turbo.

Other sensor is located inside DPF filter.

But when you go to parameters, you only see DPF filter temperature, EGT or Turbo inlet temperature is missing...

I've googled this topic due to looking for any informations about EGT sensor in my Fiat Croma 1.9 JTD 2005.
Because I've accidently destroy my old EGT sensor in DPF i have to look for the new one. It's extremally hard to find it in my country.
Can anyone post a part number of this? Or maybe someone know where to buy it?

Any informations are highly appreciated :)

Hi,

I have some problems with this sensor (part No. 51 852 762) because often error massage appears P242A or P242B.
And also with the regeneration, now i have a dilemma... Do this fault appears because DPF is clogged or sensor is faulty and because of that
regeneration is problematic. Last time fault appeared, i have checked it with MES and DPF clogging was about 110%!
New sensor is ~140€, so it is not cheap if it is ok and all problems are because of clogged DPF...
