Croma 2005 Oil Change Mileage

Post by s130 » 17 Sep 2011, 14:43

There may be a bug in reported mileage data for "Odometer at last oil change"

My previous last oil change and reset was done at 59298km / 36854miles on 24 March 2010

Now when about to do the latest reset I see: (figues taken from log files)

Before Oil Change Reset we get: (Dashboard Odometer = 81076km / 50389 miles)
Odometer: 0.0 km
Oil change counter: 3
Oil degradation level: 33.00 %
Odometer at last Oil change: 5691.2 km <====== NOTE THIS VALUE - I would expect to see either 59,298km or 33,500km (50,000 - 16500)
Distance to next Oil change: 16500 km

After Oil Change Reset we get: (Dashboard Odometer = 81076km / 50389 miles)
Odometer: 0.0 km
Oil change counter: 4
Oil degradation level: 100.00 %
Odometer at last Oil change: 0.0 km
Distance to next Oil change: 50000 km

The reason why "Odometer at last oil change" is showing 0 is because the engine ECU odometer was 0 when you executed the "Oil Change" procedure.
The odometer inside engine ECU is completely separate/independant from the odometer on the instrument cluster. I have no idea why the engine ECU reset its odometer value to 0.
I saw your other post but I really have no idea.

Thanks Yani

It is rather odd that the ECU mileage was reset at some point in time.

Next time I connect up to the car I'll see if the ECU mileage has moved on. The only tweek I've done recently is to reinstate the Service Coupon Count. Sometime ago (V1.6) after I reset the oil change I also used a Snap On unit to do 9 service resets to clear off the service warning function. I can't see turning off the service warning by using up all the coupons would affect ECU mileage count.
