Alfa GT Service reset

Post by pubsinger » 27 Apr 2010, 12:08

Hi

I've connected successfully to the ECU via ELM3271.3a, the service reset option gave me the warning about reading the notes, press 'Y' to continue 'N'' to abort.

After pressing 'Y' and a short pause the message 'completed' pops up. However the 'distance to next service' on the dashboard display still reads 0 mls.

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?

All the best

Hi,

Could you please explain me, how to reset the service interval !?

Because I bought a ELM 327 1,3+ adapter and I couldn't connect on service reset mode in my Alfa Romeo 147, just on engine mode !

Thanks, and I wait your reply !

Hi pubsinger!

I had the same behaviour with my 147, immediately after reset it showed 0km, but after disconnecting (and maybe driving some meters),
I noticed that it had switched to 20.000km, so it seems the reset function works as designed.

By the way yani: That's the best diagnostic-software ever, compared with your Fiat ECUScan VAG-COM-Software seems poor ;-) !!

Hi Hoe (must resist the temptation to follow that up with 'it's off to work we go')

No, sadly still no luck, still reads 0 mi to next service. Curiously I get no indication on the dash when starting the car that the service is due.

Did you reset yours with the engine running or just with the ignition on? I have tried it both ways but no luck.

Mine will be going in for its 60,000 mile service shortly with my independent garage, sadly his gadget won't reset the service either, I'd love to be able to do it with Multiecuscan.

For info Yani mine is 1.9JTDm CF4

Yani

I see you've removed the Service Reset feature from the free version in the latest release 2.2, so I have returned to ver 2.1

Sadly I'm still unable to reset the service using version 2.1, have you had any more thoughts on why this might be so?

Hi,

It is possible that your "Service Interval" function is already disabled.
The service interval function is automatically disabled after 9 service resets.

Nine service resets on a Croma 2005 results in the Service Display Function being removed from the car's menu system.

To just display 0 would be very confusing/misleading.

Can't see why any of the Fiats/Alfas would behave differently ?

On Stilo it is not removed from the menu.
And it shows something like --dy
I don't know how it looks on 147, but it is possible to be 0.

Very strange. It's coming up to 60,000 miles and has only had 3 service resets, my Independent garage was unable to reset it at the 48,000 service using his machine.

It's not that important as there are no reminders on the display, but it would be nice to reset it.
