Hi, i am superna and from India.
Just registered, as i am having some issues with connection to MES and PUNTO EVO 2016, 1.3MJD, power Tec model.(donot know what is power Tec)
I am using ELM 327, Bluetooth, Chinese brand, to connect and the connection is Ok, tested on MES, on different COM Speed and the software reports "The interface is compatible with ELM 327 1.4! Should connect properly with all CAN modules.
I have used this adapter with Torque and works well, was just using it to monitor Battery Volt and Coolant temp.
As per the expert advice on this forum, removed the 120E between pin 6 and 14.
i don't have the A3 cable, and i am arranging for the same shortly.
Also i am using the ver 3 of MES registered, borrowed from a friend as the unregistered version does not allow to connect.
Now my issue is i am not able to connect to the engine ECU and it says "Connection Failed" ELM 327 to ECU connection failed, Check your cable and serial port settings.
I think that it should connect directly without any interfacing cable,(correct me if i am wrong)
When i scan the vehicle , i am able to see Engine, Airbag, Body, Dashboard and climate control .
Tried to scan for Error, it throws some error related to BCM, like Battery voltage( B1005), Fuel Level Sensor(B1006), Fog light relay(b100D). (donot know how it can see the error without connection)
Have some issue with my Main beam headlight which is not working, (checked for fuse, relay, stalk and all are working and only left is BCM)
wanted to check for error, before visiting the service center, and i am sure they will point to BCM which will cost approx 500 USD.
requesting all to kindly advice on how to proceed.

thanks
superna

A small update, was able to connect to Engine, com port4, 115200 baud rate, no new driver, but the vehicle selected was " Fiat Punto intern 1.3 JTD/Multijet" ( I have a punto evo 90Hp Powertech Model). But not able to connect to Body, through the adapter cable, getting error on test of port " Command ATBI, Response : CAN ERROR.
need some input to correct this error please.
The Bluetooth scanner is from Interfuse, but i think it is chinese.
regards
superna

Hi,

I've been using cheap, modified ELM-adapters for years now without any problem.
However since this summer I'm always getting driver issues as the Prolific PL2303 drivers aren't supported by Windows anymore.
I fixed this issue by removing all drivers for it and installing the v3.3.3 driver which is still signed by Windows and works perfectly.

However now there's another driver issue popping up:
(Code 10) {Not Enough Quota}

Most of the time this is solved by switching USB-ports but it's just annoying.

I'm now thinking to try and find a new ELM-adapter that doesn't use the PL2303-chip to avoid getting into the same trouble again. So any advice would be welcome about which one I'll have to buy. I also have all the colour-coded dongles (see link below) which should be compatible with the new cable.

Any advice would be highly appreciated!

More expensive but OBDLINK SX is a good device. To my knowledge unlike ELM there are no (or very few cheap Chinese/other) clones out there.

As I am getting ready to upgrade my computer after years, and currently use a Audio Express as my interface. Does anyone think maybe the addition of an M4 would be a nice less expensive way to upgrade, and add a few channels of input. Then, they could run side by side. Which honestly until now I didnt even realize was possible

But does it use another chipset than the PL2303? Otherwise it won’t be anything different.

I bought an ELM327 cable that has been modified to work with fiats, Alfa’s etc. but it’s giving me the can bus error. Reads the engine ecu but nothing else.
I’m trying to do a proxy realignment and service reset on my Alfa 147 1.6ts 120 2008.
Cable has been installed with FTDI drivers, latest from their website. Is it possible to remove those drivers and install prolific drivers? Could I have set it up incorrectly?

I have Fiat Barchetta 1998, serial number around 31000. Up to now I used adapter 16 pin OBD2 to 3 pin OBD1 and VAG KKL usb cable together with my Windows laptop and Multiecuscan software. I never had any problem to connect to my Barchetta's ECU and I could scan all the parameters anytime.
Recently I bought from Ebay Multiecuscan store ELM 327 Wi-Fi for IOS. I tried to use it with my IPAD Air 2 and free Multiecuscan from Apple store, but I was not able to establish the connection between Barchetta's ECU and my IPAD. Together with ELM327 I got also small CD, but it was completely empty and not readable. Please help me with some additional information! Do I need some special settings on my IPAD? Why there is a switcher on ELM327? I got no instruction manuals! Is it possible to connect ELM327 wifi IOS to laptop Windows Multiecusan or not?
Many thanks for any help in advance.
