if I do an interface search, it tells me that it is compatible with ELM 1.4 and with all CAN lines

Hello there,
I've this kind of ELM that I've bought times ago for using on Ford's wife.
Never used!
Now I've a Fiat 500L 1.6 Multijet Diesel, and I want to do self change oil and filter, as usual...
There is this annoying Service reset.
How I can do mine self changind filters and then reset Service? ONLY RESET SERVICE.
What I have to do?
Is it necessary Cable 3?
This Elm is version 1.5, What program I have to buy?
I need some resistance cut (mine r04 and r14 are 103 printed on)? Soldering some stuff?
What program need to install first for testing purpose first and check id my elm adapter will go?
I've download SetupMultiecuscan43.msi Free edition now.
Please help me :-)
Thank you

Here the pictures.

i'm using MES 3.9R1 and drivers ftdi CDM21218 and if i do the test all is ok but can't connect.
the same interface on another laptop work perfect. I think is drivers problem but i not understand how to solve the problem
Hope someone can help me...Thanks

Hi all Multiecuscan guys,
I had the same problem as many of you already had: my so-called "ELM327 Mini Bluetooth v.2.1" adapter failed MES test when "ELM327 1.3+ Bluetooth" was selected, replying lot of "?", but "OBDkey 1.4 Bluetooth" tested successfully with all OK replies. And, when trying to connect with the ECU, connection failure occurred with both selections.
Well, I can give some answers to you.
First of all interface test failure (? replied) or success (OK replied) are ABSOLUTELY NOT RELATED TO CAN TERMINATOR 120 ohm RESISTOR. Test failures are caused by wrong processing of ELM327 clones firmware that do not accept AT command string termination by <LF> <CR>, like MES does when ELM327 1.3+ Bluetooth was selected, rather than more common <CR> <LF> or just only <CR>, used when OBDkey 1.4 Bluetooth is selected and even used by many other phone apps (Torque, for example). Not all commands refuses <LF> <CR>, really: ATZ, ATI and ATAT1 are accepted as well, but no way to make digest to ELM327 clones the simple ATE0, for example. I even tried to reprogram Programming Parameters 0A and 0D swapping them each other but cloned behavior is a fake and is not what described in the original ELM327 documentation. But it could be only on my unlucky item; let's try anyway AT PP 0A SV 0D, AT PP 0A ON, AT PP 0D SV 0A and AT PP 0D ON followed by ATZ or a power cycle and, who knows, ELM327 1.3+ Bluetooth test will pass. Anyway, OBDkey 1.4 Bluetooth selection with ELM327 clones cannot ever be used in subsequent ECU connection since some slight difference on command sequence applies that is not recognized by the ELM327 clone, but OBDkey does.
So, if Programming Parameters will not solve test failures, what we have to do?
1) buy another 4.0 MHz slow clocked PIC based interface, even cloned, just simply v.1.5 rather than last-model 2.1 24 MHz one, that accepts <LF> <CR> MES terminator;
2) try to contact MES developers and convince them to add a configuration checkbox that swaps <LF> <CR> AT command terminator to <CR> <LF>.
How I obtained this information? I just used a serial port monitor to sniff repeatedly hundreds of retries using MES and terminal applications.
About the 120 ohm resistor, that's quite more simple: you must remove it from CAN bus termination. A solder and a tester will be needed for this task, plus some experience. Ask to a friend of yours if you do not feel comfortable doing SMD reworks for a beer.
That's all folks. May anybody can do a call for solution n.2) proposed above? Let me know if they receipt such a simple request.

So this is basically my situation. I've bought an ELM327 USB 1.5 on a valid car-website in my country, it said ELM CANBUS on the cover. Then I purchased registerd MES. Now since there was CANBUS on the cover, I thought it could do everything in MES, but it cannot. If I scan the car, it only scans the Engine, nothing more, no dash and body. ABS is logical since I need an adapter for that, but I dont need to get into there.

Now the question is, can I just remove a resistor, put it back into the case and plug it in to make it work, or do I need to do some rewiring as well?

If I can just remove a resistor, which resistor should I remove, I've read about 2 options, R04 and R14. I'll provide some pictures so that you can help better. I have outlined both of the resistors in question with yellow.

EDIT: I hope I can do it with gyazo, because for some reason it doesnt let me post with attachments.

Hello abraxxious

Remove the white plug please Holder with 8 contacts
including I suspect the bridge resistance.

Your pictures must not be so large, only the resolution should be high
Not so blurred

Greetings Eddy

Edit: It should be around this ELM?
then remove the yellow-marked resistor.

Hello Eddy,

Can I just remove the resistor, or do I need to do something else? Also, if I remove this resistor, can I acces all the CAN modules?

I have ordered the ELM 327 from here:
https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.html?spm=a2g0s.9042647.6.2.99cc4c4dmsv049&orderId=100641535015299&productId=32907798437
I have found the 120 Ohm resistor, but dashboard, service, abs, proxi etc. is still not accesable.

Greetings from Brazil!

Hi folks, would you please help me?

I bought this interface OBDII / ELM 327 in there express link:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2014-Highly-Recommend-Vgate-ELM327-USB-OBD-Scan-USB-Diagnostic-Scanner-Work-With- OBD2-Vehicle-Vgate / 453920473.html? Spm = a2g0s.12269583.0.0.79b8a8abVGQCMI

And I can not use it with Multiecuscan 4.2, as soon as it tries to locate / test the interface the software gives an error, hangs and closes. The same thing happens when I try to scan the car ECU.

My car is a Renegade e-torque 1.8 16v
I try to attach teh picture of my board/interface, but if isnt works, inte link exists the same picture.

Does anyone know if it is possible to do the modification on this card for the interface to work?

Thank you!
Hugs.
Rodrigo
