can-bus issues

Post by nozel » 02 Aug 2018, 16:12

Good Day all
I'm a new user of Multiecuscan Registered. Interface supplied from Gendan Co UK

We have a 2013 Fiat 500 Sport in Canada. We have had radio and usb connection issues in the past.
The radio was replaced early (within six months of ownership) under warranty.Fast forward to 2016 and warranty about to expire, My wife reports the radio provides no audio though clearly selected on.
This was mentioned to studio, who answered "unless there is a code" we won't replace it. I asked for a scan which was reluctantly given free of cost. It was reported no code pointing at the radio, so issue died right there.

I have since purchased a registered Multiecuscan with interface and have scanned both can-high and can-low with confusing results

Scan vehicle for available modules and check each module for errors...

SENDING DIAGNOSTIC REPORT ...

I'm cofused by the "unsupported iso code" dashboard module and the
TPMS fault code U0019-87 -B-CAN line as shown in the scan log above.

The engine ECU is reported as unknown /unsupported ISO code.
With multiple modules affected across CAN-high and CAN-low I suspect said modules won't be the issue

Any thoughts or inputs gladly accepted.

Thanks in advance

Hello Rolf,

The Unknown/Unsupported dashboard module simply means that Multiecuscan does not recognise the module, which I suspect is the radio unit. This is possibly because it is a North American vehicle specific radio which has not been added to MES. The same would most likely apply to the engine ECU.

Using the function in MES to send a report of your scan to the developer may result in the modules being added and recognised in a future version of MES. I had the same issue with my European version uConnect 5.0 radio for several months, but it has since been added to the MES database and is now recognised.

U0019 is I believe a communication error on the B-can network. Have you tried clearing the error to see if it returns?

Hello rs3100
An update
I suspect my input to MES support was the catalyst to update MES to 4.2.
The engine ecu iso code is now recognized, though the CTM remains as an un recognized module.
I suspect a CAN-B communication issue as numerous modules are not present.
The modules of concern are CTM, Steering,, Drivers door,
Can bus resistance checked, found to be ~60 ohm
Can Bus Voltage checked, 2.5v CAN-A, 2.5V CAN-B, KEY OFF.
Can Bus Voltage CAN-A = 3.17v, CAN-B =3.9, KEY ON engine off.
The CAN-B codes can be cleared but reappear on next scan.
Without expensive tools I'm stumped.

The following text is from my last use of MES:
