V3.5 on Ducato 2.8JTD, 2005, Bosch ABS 5.3ASR

Post by Barney Rubble » 25 Feb 2017, 20:27

Having broke the habit of a lifetime, I have coughed up good money for software to do a specific job. That being Multiecuscan v 3.5. I tried several of the free versions of this, on 4 different laptops; ALL gave varying degrees of connection problems. So I decided to buy and install the latest version on the copmputer that had the fewest issues, as I needed to connect to my Bosch ABS v5.3ASR, which the free one does not permit. Only to find I cannot get a connection to this module at all. I can sometimes connect to the engine ECU, but so unreliable. I'm very disappointed. I have had the VAG KKL adaptor configured every way possible, and the laptop port settings absolutely done to death to try and get this to work. Has anyone (who has not already replied) had success with this version of ABS and can get a reliable connection at will on their kit? Any ideas before I kick the whole outfit, vehicle and all, up and down the street from dawn til dusk! I am using Toshiba satellite, intel p4, windows XP, vag kkl lead wirh 4 way swtch swirch for pins 1,9, etc. lowest latency, tried lots of port speeds, every thing I have read ib the help files, even high latency mode, but now I can test the interface abd get all results in tolerance of bel;ow 5ms,,,but I can not get connections!!! Yani,,,heeelllppppppp please!!

Can you tell us your vehicle information. Make/Model/Engine/Year etc. ? From this info we can possibly give a better answer.

Hi s130...its all in the title....viz- 2005 duc 2.8 JTD Its actually a Burstner motorhome but the chassis is as above). I have changed the battery and after doing so, it left abs and h/brake lights on, so info suggests EBd ailure, but it never showed up before I did the battery (old one was properly knackerd). The vehicle lives in warm ish dry storage and was ok in october before I found the duud battery in jan this year. I am hoping voltage drop has caused it but thought self test after replacing battery would clear it and leave record in ecu- which I cannot access (Bosch 5.3asr) even tho I have registered v3.5. Any ideas mate?

You also need adaptor A1.

A1 connect KKL Pin 7 to Pins 1, 7, 9, 12 on the vehicle.

I see you said you have a switched KKL adaptor so you might like to check that it is correctly wired regarding switch positions and pin connections.

Beyond that then you need to use the SEND REPORT function and then Email MES support.

Hi s130,, so, if I put one lead from my continuity tester on the pcb side of p1, then check selected labeled positions of 4 way switch to the male pins in the leads plug, I should get continuity on the pins as indicated on the switch, they should tally when set at the various positions. The abs comes from the vehicle on p7 or p9? P1 is where the lead takes the data into the computer if I got me head round it? The rest I don,t need for now (tempting fate here!!) Cheers.

According to the table here: http://www.multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx

ABS is on Pin 1 (KL1) (Not 7 or 9)
Engines is on Pin 7 (standard KKL connection/wiring)
Airbags are on Pin 3 (KL3)
Nothing on Pin 9 or 12

Well, just been down to try it all again,, thrown everything at it, can not connect to abs module. only sometimes, not all, to the engine, and thats unreliable. All connections are good in the vehicle looms etc. I have had it with this. I have a mountain of kit and for nothing. looks like it will have to go to fiats.

OK. Before you give up do the following:

1) When you get connect error/instability use the Send Report - This will be found in RED TEXT at the bottom of the Home page below the Simulate F10 button. Note data and time.

2) Email MES Support stating problem and also the date and time you sent to report.

Hi s130,, but wont that need an internet connection- I am down on a farm with no service. I see I can set the folders for other logs, but IIRC I can;t save an error log, just get the red send button (seen that a few times I can tell you!) I tried my modded kkl lead with wire from pin 7 soldered to pin1, and for good measure also all 4 positions and all MES modules selectable form menu's on MES with the switched one. No connection to any module except engine (on correct switch setting on switched lead, incidentally). And that only when it feels like letting me in. Latency test some times passes, mostly fails. The cumbersome and restrictive licence transfer will hold me back on trying another laptop in addition to the stack I already tried with the free version. I even tried the high latency mode. I am using the drivers now that came with the leads, not the dowload ftdi ones. Does anyone know, what fuses are involved with the ASR side, apart from the ones shown for the abs, like f04, and the others as per elearn, think there are another 3 I forget the numbers of. Or relays even? Cheers y'all.

Can only suggest.

Fully charge laptop.
Run MES to get to Send Report status.
Keep MES Open
Sleep or hibernate laptop (trial each one to check that MES is still open after wakeup)
Drive home to your internet connection
Send Report
