Is my connection to multiecuscan correct?

Hello, Can anybody tell me if multiecuscan is working properly for me? I have recently acquired a 2014 fiat 500L Set up Multiecuscan with the red, yellow and blue converters and ended up with the box telling me that everything was set properly . but when I connect to the car to try multiecuscan I get a message that I need an elm interface for most of the units . Is this normal or is there a problem? At the moment I am using the free version because I don't see any point in paying for a system that will not work, Any thoughts appreciated .

You don't say what interface you tried? VAG/KKL? If this then that is your problem.
