MES requires admin privilege to run on Win 7 & 10

Post by rs3100 » 08 Aug 2019, 09:44

Hello,

I have been running MES on a Win XP laptop for quite a while, and it runs from a standard user account without elevation.

I have just installed Windows 7 on the machine as it is a minimum requirement for other software that I now need to run, but now MES prompts for the admin password via UAC every time I run it. I've also tried installing it on my Win 10 desktop to check the behaviour and I get the UAC prompt on that machine too.

Is that normal? I'm used to it just opening when I click on the MES icon, and the history page on the website states that the requirement to run as administrator on Vista and Windows 7 was fixed as of version 2.1 (ECUScan) in April 2010.

I'm using MES v4.4 registered with the CANtieCAR interface BTW.

Has always been like this on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.

Nothing to worry about.
