MES is for Windows only.

If a Chrome notebook can run Windows then MES may work *but* Virtual Machines and Emulators often get in the way of responsive access to hardware and COM ports so MES perofrmance could be very unreliable. If unreliable then reading parameters with MES should not be an issue but write operations could be troublesome and possibly dangerous especially if doing Proxi config alterations or security/key coding type operations.

Yes if you want a trouble free quality operation of the MES software.

I have written Windows software for controlling radio equipment which some people have mange to get running on MACs and Linux but it wasn't plain sailing with COM issues to be overcome.
