Connection problems with ELM327

Post by Jan_156 » 04 Apr 2010, 11:00

Hi @ all!
First, thx to Yani for the great Ecuscan software! I´ve got two interfaces, KKL and Elmcan II with ELM 327. I bought the ELM in 11/2008, the reseller said it has the chipset version 1.3a (can I prove this?). I´ve got a Stilo and tried to connect with the Elmcan, but the connection always times out, message says I have to check cable and connection settings. Cable is ok, new FTDI drivers and actual .net Framework is installed. I can connect with Scanmaster software to the ECU, but not with Multiecuscan. Do I have to change some settings in the Windows Device Manager like the KKL interface?

I had the same problem.
I got the advice from hanzs to change the baud rate in the settings of Multiecuscan to 38400 and the problem was solved.

Wow, that was simple. Thanks for your (and Hanzs) advice, now ELM works fine!

Can you connect to the ABS and airbag ECUs with the ELM interface? Does it need to bridge the pins 1-3-7?

I've had the same problem... Despite the changes i have done to USB serial port in the Device Manager the program still gave me errors about "Connections times out"
So i have made that trick... In the USB serial port in the Device Manager i put "Bits per Second" at 38400 and the "latancy time 1". But in the Multiecuscan program at settings button i put speed 9600 bits. And with this trick it works perfect.
