help with a 2007 GT

Post by jon103a » 04 Feb 2015, 18:39

Hi guys, My name is jon and I am an auto electrician in the uk. I have a problem that is a little outside my area and hoped some one could offer some insight. I have a customer that has a 2007 alfa gt. it was purchased as a non runner with the immob fault on the dash. The key would not reprogram so we picked up a set of engine ecu, body computer and keys - great car started and ran perfect with only the odo flashing and an abs light on. sent it with the customer to a local alfa specialist for a proxy alignment and it all went south from there - proxy failed and just about everything stopped working and then a few days later car would not start again. So my problem is - apart from trusting the alfa specialist did I do anything wrong?. If I purchase this multiscan software am I right in saying it will do a proxy according to the list. Finally please can someone advise me if we can get another ecu/body/key set and all the other ecu's are ok should everything work or have I missed something. I have a vag com kkl lead wich I think it will work on. Thanks in advance if anyone can understand me and help. Jon

Dear Jon, if you check the list of vehicles and supported systems and necessary hardware http://www.multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx will see that for "CAN Setup / PROXI Alignment Procedure" is necessary ELM327 or OBDKey interface. I think the Registered Multiecuscan works perfectly.

Hi Jon

As Walter already wrote
To make only with ELM or OBDkey
Your KKL is useless for

Thanks guys, I 're read the instructions and see what you mean about the interface. Can you guys tell me if there is any was any reason the original Alfa specialist should have failed with the proxy from what I posted. Thanks, Jon.

Please explain what you mean by "just about everything stopped working". The PROXI can disable a few options of the car (this is because you took the body computer from another car that has different options), but it is far less than "about everything".
The PROXI cannot cause the IMMO problem for sure. It is probably caused by some electrical fault - loose connectors, damaged wires, battery, charging voltage, etc.

Hi, Sorry that was a bit vague. I haven't seen the car since it went for the proxy alignment and that was the customers description. I have had it recovered to my place so I can have a proper look myself. The customer has since told me the garage had the car for about an hour and kept playing around with it and unplugging things on the fuse board and body computer?. I think the car now has its original ecu set on so will have a look over the weekend and try to see what works and what wont work with my Autel and then come back. Thanks. Jon

Hello,

I have a smilar issue, also with a alfa gt 2005 3.2 v6. The Engine ECU died so we bought second hand ecu set + key... Everything is working again, but also odo flashing.

I have allready for a long time multi ecu scan (great program) with elm and extra red/green/yellow cables (also vag kkl...) I can connect to every ecu, but when i want to connect to proxi allignment it takes a while and then it says, bad connection, check cable..., just can info works.

But when connecting to can info, after a few seconds it trows me out, with other ecu's like engine i can stay in there for a long time.

Any idea what this could be?

I updated multi ecu scan to the 2.5 version.
In my other alfa gt 3.2 i can connect to proxi allignment, no problems.

But in the alfa gt 3.2 of my dad (where we have fitted other engine ecu and bcm and key, car starts but odo flashing) when i want to connect, i get the message, "empty proxi file in bcm, please check cable connections"
What could this be? See the attachment How to solve this?

update.

After installing an old fiat ecu scan program (the guy who sold me the bcm and engine ecu + key, told me to do it with that program), i could login but only when the engine was running. not just with ignition on (don't know why).
But if engine was running and connected with proxi allignment, i turned of the engine and immediately ignition back on. After this I did the proxi allignment, all succes except the dashboard node.

Today i tought why not try with the multiecusan again, just ignition on, and yes got connected. At the info screen it says EOL dashboard not, all the rest ok. Did the proxi allignment again, but same error with the dashboard node.

Any idea what this could be? Maybe something badly connected at the bcm, or software errors?
Odo is still flashing.

I also send report with multi ecu scan, don't know if that reaches you yani?

Thanks allready
