ABS panda 1.2 2009

Post by aber » 28 Sep 2012, 17:08

Panda 1.2 8 valve 2009, Can see an ABS unit with OBDkey but doesn't recognise it. ISO number all 0's. ELM and KL interface doesn't see the ABS at all. Other ECU's seem OK and are seen and can be read etc. Vehicle lists says KL, ELM and OBDkey should all see the ABS and read it with adapter lead.

Bought the Gendan ELM,KL kit to read the ABS but so far can't. I suspect my ABS is a new version on the '09 panda 1.2 8 valve the Multiscan can't see or read etc. Is there a way to read and work with the ABS using Multiscan on my model of Panda?

Please send us a report after connecting to the ABS module.
You can send it by clicking on the red "Send Report" button.

Sent off reports. Tried connecting through 500 1.2 ABS. This doesn't work either. Causes clock and trip meter to clear. Causes U1602 can error.

Can't actually connect to the ABS module, only see it when scanning. Sees ABS with OBDkey and with OBDkey/Green connector. Can't connect.

I have attached a JPEG of Green connector scan.

I saw the report which you sent....
The result you see from the SCAN function is a misidentification - it doesn't find any ABS module.
The ABS module in your Panda is Bosch ABS 8 and it is the same even in the 2010 model.
You should be able to connect to it by using the green adapter and any of the interfaces. If you cannot connect then then there is probably a problem with the power supply/grounding on the OBD connector or ABS module.
Of course it is recommended to first check the wiring of the green adapter with an ohmmeter. It should have connection between pin 1 and pin 7.

Checked the green connector and the serial cable off the Gendan Elm unit. All OK. My concern is that the usb OBDkey saw something that the Elm and KL connectors didn't, with or without the green connector. The car has done less than 10,000 miles and hasn't been abused. The Haynes manaual says that the brakes layout changed after '06. If there was a problem with the power wire at the OBD socket none of the connections would have worked for the engine, body, steering etc.

It might be easier to get another make of scanner connected to see it can see the ABS and interact with it. Tomorrow I wil have a look at the ABS ECU wiring to see if there are nay problems there. The trouble is I didn't want to go pulling off and remaking any ABS connectors in case I cause a fault I then can't clear or read it. The OBDkey is cleary seeing someting even if it is wrong the other connectors are not.

:D Utter relief found fault. Pin 1 on OBD socket in car was not properly in place. Removed OBD socket from dash and secured wire back into connector. Can now see and read the ABS with the KL, Gendan Elm and the OBDkey connectors. Was Bosch ABS 8.

Thanks for your help. Sent you the report as well. :D
