Alfa 159 Airbag problem, what do I need to diagnose/clear it?

Post by WhiteLancer159 » 06 Dec 2023, 12:35

Hello,

I have an Alfa 159 that has an airbag problem and I'm trying to figure out if Multiecuscan can help me.

I suspect it's something related to the wiring to the seat, as it happened while I was driving it coming to a stop doing nothing untoward. But I've heard that even if I were to have the wiring fixed, the airbag code would need to be reset somehow as it won't just disappear on its own if the wiring were to be fixed.

Will multiscuscan help me read this airbag code and/or clear it? If so, what am I going to need to buy, in terms of the multiecuscan software and interface to connect to the car?

I was told by my old shop I used to go to that it was a B1005 code "passenger airbag exclusion w. lamp" fault, or Air Bag TRW MY 03 (2F-2P-2L-2T-1G-I)

Thanks :D

The Alfa 159 is well supported by MES. See/look for your specific model here: https://multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx

For the 'TRW My 03' Airbag and most other systems you only need the ELM / OBDLINK SX interface cable and the software. If you want to cover the ABS system then adapter A1 is required. For the TPMS system (if you have this) then adapter A4 is required.

I would recommend you only purchase your ELM or OBDLINK SX device from one of the recommended suppliers listed here: https://www.multiecuscan.net/Distributors.aspx
