Fiat Ducato x290 - Change engine oil text

Post by Chris80 » 28 Feb 2022, 17:25

Hi

Just having a problem resetting the service and oil degradation info on My Fiat x290 Ducato. I have carried out the service interval reset procedure from the service menu and then the Oil change procedure on the engine management ecu. However the dashboard display now says “Change Engine Oil” on startup. No other warning lights are on. I’ve tried repeating the procedures and carried out a proxy align (not needed). The problem is still there. I sent the reporting log in. Any ideas??

Thanks
Chris

Go to engine, -> adjustmentst-> oil change (only for versions with dpf)

This should solve the problem

Thanks. I’ve already tried that and that’s what seems to have has started the message appearing. Tried doing it again and still no luck although it reports procedure complete.

Have you tried changing the date in the service menu?
Service-> Service interval reset-> Adjustments-> Last service date (execute and set it to today for example)
At what distance do you have your service intervals? I set it at 25000km.
Service-> Service interval reset-> Adjustments->Service interval (execute and set to 25000km for example)

good luck

Hi

The last service date was set to the current day. Service interval is 48000 km.

For some reason the odo at last oil change is around 1000 km short of the actual odo following the oil change procedure, whereas the odo at last service has updated to the actual odo correctly. Could this be causing the problem?

Thanks Chris

No this could not be the problem, it is very normal that the odo on the dash and on mes are a few % different.

Is the date on the car the right date?

Hi. Yes the date on the van and on my laptop are correct. I think the message is relating to the oil change procedure rather than the service. However the oil light isn’t on and all of the parameters are set correctly now ( oil degradation, odo at last change, distance to next oil change). Could the ecu have become corrupted somehow?

Any fault codes? No oil pressure light? Maybe the filter in the bottom of the sump is clogged up.

No fault codes. The oil light should be flashing along with the text if an oil change is required. So I can’t understand why I’m getting the change engine oil text display without the flashing oil can.
