Post by simon m » 24 Apr 2010, 01:37

hi, please could someone help me out and tell me which cable i need to use on my 156 selespeed W-reg, year 2000.
i need to fault find on the gearbox, engine, etc.
i have already bought a cable from ebay; 409.1 KKL VAG-COM OBD II.
i downloaded multiecuscan 2.1 and reset the different settings in device manager etc but it still wont connect.
have i bought the wrong cable? i see some people are getting a elm 327. should i get this for mine or should the one i have work anyway and i am the part not working it right!?
if i do need a differant cable please could you let me know which but maybe also who (ebay seller i.d., item number..) so i dont get a rip off copy or something.
any help welcome as 3 days and nights into this now!

Oh i also downloaded different versions of software from the vag-com site and followed those. but after clicking on options button non of the com1,2,3,4,/usb buttons connected so couldn't use test and save button. i'm pretty sure there must be others like me but just can't see wot i'm doing wrong.

Hi, thanks for asking
when i click on device manager it comes up with 3 different options under driver file details.
they are;

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ftser2k.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\serenum.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ftserui2.dll

i have plugged the cable in and gone through windows wizard to update the device and it says device is up to date.
should i download something else?

thank you for asking

I'm using this version without any problems. There is a new version, but this is good enough i think.

Txt file is exe, just rename it if you want auto install.
Zip file contains driver if you don't want to run unknown executable file on your PC.

Hope that this will help you.
Uninstall all drivers installed before and try this version,
Don't forget to adjust virtual COM port settings, latency ,etc.

Cheers.

This files are driver for USB serial com port.
You need them in order to get you VAG-COM 409.1 cable running properly.
If everything is OK with installation when you plug the cable to USB you should see something like this:
