2013 500- TPMS Disable

Post by romanoaf » 24 Apr 2019, 14:23

Is it possible to remove TPMS Dash warning when using tires without sensors?

I've tried setting system to "not present" with proxy alignment, and setting all of the sensor codes to 0000000 to no avail.

You may find that you vehicle has what is called Passive TPMS. Passive TPMS has NOT pressure sensors in the wheels. Instead it uses the ABS system to monitor relative wheel rotations where an under inflated tyre will rotate differently to a correctly inflated tyre.

I don't believe any NA 500's had a speed/ABS sensor system.. in any case; I'm able to view the TPMS sensor addresses from my winter wheels; so the system is definitely looking to connect to sensors.

Car is a North American 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth. TPMS shows as "Not present" when I update through proxy alignment; however still faults on the dash.

Has anyone successfully disabled the TPMS warning on a North American 500? Help appreciated

I have! I put a european cluster in my na car, and Tpms is able to be disabled :)

It has some other kinks, but this is obviously a big plus

(cruise control doesn't display, for one, but seems to work)

I have a 2015 TFT cluster ready to put in soon, hopefully it’s the same case for a NA cluster. Did you just do it through proxy alignment, or did you have to play around in the TPMS function on MES?

It doesn't work on an NA cluster - Tpms is somehow locked down (due to legal considerations.)

In mes there is an option to disable Tpms, but for an na cluster, it doesn't work.

To follow up, TPMS warning can be disabled once the receiver module in the wheel well is removed.

Hello,
Just found this post. I have a 2012 500 pop. I would like to be able to disable this TPMS as well. So does just removing the module get rid of the "TPMS not available" I assume you would remove the module then rescan the buss. But wanted to know the correct steps and final outcome. The system has been flaky since the first week I bought the car in 2017. Dealer replace all sensor on the stock wheel, replaced the module in the rear wheel well, said they repaired some wiring that is a common issue but always works for a week then get the not available for a few weeks. Its a grimlin that can't be found! When the girls drive the car they are always worried about the warning and the lights even though I check tire pressure and tell them its ok.... Want to run some nicer wheels now but more import want to disable this pain first!
Any help would be great! Also just fyi, I even tried the TPMS Bypass device specifically for Fiat with no luck at all even with rescan the system reacts the same....
Thanks
