Alfa 166 Climate ECU

Post by Graeme » 05 May 2018, 16:35

Hello

I have an ALFA 166 3.0 Sportronic Lusso 2004

I am trying to find diagnostic software for this car that will access EVERYTHING. I am currently trying to solve a climate control problem. The Fan Motor has been replaced 6 months ago as well as the Climate ECU. However it has stopped working again and another change of ECU has not worked.
I have tried several pieces of Diagnostic Equipment but NONE of them will access anything but the basic Engine and ABS ECUs.

I have been recommended the Multuecuscan software but am reluctant to spend yet more money if it will not work.
Can anyone tell me if it will DEFINITELY FULLY SCAN EVERYTHING including the MARELLI ECU of my Climate Control.

Definite answers please not 'it should work etc' which has already cost me several hundred pounds.............

Many thanks in advance

Graeme

Please look in this table for your car: http://www.multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx

I've had a look and it looks like currently MES does not support your climate control unit. You should however confirm for yourself.

Hi S130

Thanks for your reply. Yes, i had looked and came to the same conclusion but i wanted to be certain one way or another. Looks like i will have to take the car to an ALFA dealer...........

Kind regards

Have you checked that the problem with the fan motor is not being caused by a faulty speed regulator? The ECU is highly unlikely to have an inbuilt power speed regulator module. The regulator module are often found in the fan motor housing so it benefits from blown cool air. Just a thought.

That's a good thought thanks. I was hoping to have diagnostics check that sort of thing without stripping the car to pieces to get at the motor again. It had a brand new fan motor fitted only 6 months ago..........which didn't sort it but a replacement ECU did. Alas, another replacement ECU did not sort it this time! Bah

Kind regards
