Hi, need advice on use of cables

Post by mark24 » 02 Apr 2010, 23:22

Hi, I am looking to connect the program to my ecu and airbag unit. I have bought these cables as its a 3 pin connector.

Would I need to adapt these cables in anyway to get it to work? I see a how to guide but seems to be designed for obd cars.

You don't say what car you're trying to connect to

The VAG type connector and 16pin to 3pin cable worked for me on my 1999 1.2 Bravo no ABS, that's a pre EOBD 3 pin connector for basic reading of fault code and erasing fault codes. It connected but it took a few tries as the ECU often needs "waking up". I haven't been able to get running data working on multiecuscan ver 1.6 but haven't tried the new ver 2.0 yet

Ver 1.6 all works fine and fully functional on my Fiat STilo 1.6 full EOBD2

I was looking to connect it to the ecu of a 1.2 punto also to the abs and airbag of a punto gt. Couldnt get it to work on the 1.2 punto but that could be a faulty connecter on the car. On the gt it wouldnt work on the airbag and abs.

What part would I connect to pin 3 on the vag cable to get it to work on the airbag ecu for my punto gt? In the how to guide it just says connect it to the cable and not to any of the other pins but I cant figure out what to do now as my 3 pin adaptor connects directly to the obd connection.

With both of them cables it connects straight away to the abs unit and works a treat. I still havent managed to get it connected to the airbag unit even after cutting the k line and connecting it to pin 3.
