sensor readouts zero when check engine displayed

Hi,
I have a 2007 Bravo 1.9JTD 8v and when recording sensors on the graph connected on the C-CAN network (ECU, ABS and EPS) via the K-Line I get all sensors going to zero when the CHECK ENGNE is displayed on the dash.
Is this normal using a modified elm327 adapter?
I have an ongoing problem with my CE light coming on when turning left only but no fault codes stored.
Is there any way to start the car then disconnect individual modules mainly EPS from the C-CAN network?
