Fiat Punto mk2/B PROXI Alignment

Post by kido.resuri » 23 Jul 2017, 10:14

Hello!

I'm having problems with PROXI Alignment on my Fiat Punto mk2/B, the Dashboard unit always fails.
Here is the log output:

Code: Select all

One important thing to know is that the car is actually a Fiat Punto MK2/A, I installed Body Computer, ECM and Dashboard from an MK2/B. I can connect to each and every control unit, even to the dashboard, I could write odometer, etc., but the PROXI fails. I can also start the engine, Dash shows revs, so it seems to work.
What could cause the problem and what could i do to resolve it?

EDIT: I'm using a china ELM 1.3+ (cable)

Why do you want to do a Proxi Alignment?
You surely should not need to since you are using the same ecus that were previously aligned to each other in the other Punto.

As I understand it, Proxi Alignment is only needed when you are adding a new ecu to the can bus. The new ecu introduces itself to all the other ecus so they can communicate.
It is similar I think, to adding a new device to a lan network - the device broadcasts a request and the dhcp server responds by assigning it an IP address, otherwise its not seen on the network.

The instrument cluster needs to be proxi aligned, as it is from another Punto. The LCD display is flashing, and MES shows EOL Failed for the dashboard unit.

I have the original mk2b dashboard now, which is aligned with the other ecus.
Now the problem is, it was form a car with automatic transmission. I need to disable the fault for automatic transmission in the dashboard, but the proxi fails for this dashboard also. Is it possible to disable it? If so, how?

Thank you in advance!

Or is it possible that this large LCD version is not supported by MES? There are two types of dashboard in the controller list in MES, Basic and Comfort, but there were in fact 3 types in the facelift version of the Fiat Punto mk2b, the one with no rev clock, one with rev clock, and one with large lcd display and outside thermometer on the display. I can write odometer for this largest lcd type too, clear fault codes, etc, but always fails the proxi. I can see the elm trying to communicate, but it seems there is no answer.
Should I monitor the real communication data over the elm327 between the dashboard and the laptop? I can set up a serial bridge between the two to log data.

A friend of mine has similar problem, with the automatic transmission fault, he also fails the proxi on the dashboard. But at least he could align the dash and the flashing stopped.
