error "C1004 - Power steering motor" what to replace or fix

Post by andretr » 19 Dec 2016, 20:28

Hi All,

cant find it on google so I hope you guys can help me. The error of multiscan says the stering motor, on internet I find some answers pointing at the alternator of the battery?

I have a problem with the eps of my Punto. I scanned the computer and this is what multiecuscan gave me. (I have a china elm plug with the R120 removed if this is relevant info)

ECU ISO Code: 31 83 89 01 13
19-12-2016 20:44:21
CONNECTED TO:
FIAT PUNTO '03 1.3 JTD
Delphi Electric Steering
--------------------------------------------------------------

ECU ISO code: 31 83 89 01 13
FIAT drawing number: 46755205
Hardware number: 2610107503A
Hardware version: 00
Software number: 2610107603A
Software version: 0000
Homologation number:
ECU programming date: 02/12/2005

READING ERROR CODES:
1: C1004 - Power steering motor
A problem is detected in the sensor(s) or the power steering motor assembly, as indicated by the code. Check the system fuses and the connectors and wiring for opens, shorts and weak connections. If the wiring is in good condition and the problem can be directly pointed to an internal component, it may be necessary to renew the entire servo motor assembly, since repairs are usually not possible.
The reason for this fault is that ECU has received very high signal from the sensor. The fault is present now. Take appropriate action to fix this sensor fault. Dashboard warning light was activated for this fault.

Thanks! André

The steering draws a lot of power when running so check battery connections, earths and condition of battery.
Ask on the FIAT forum too.
