ELM327 does not connect in ABS system

Post by Overdrive » 10 Oct 2012, 15:26

ELM327 does not connect the ABS and multiecuscan report that is necessary adapter 1 (see pictures below).
Other functions such as Airbag, Dashboard, Body, Service and Parking connects correctly.
I need to adapt this connector (ELM327 1.5a) or buy another model to be able to access the ABS?

Thank you in advance for answers.

Hello

You need an adapter just to read your ABS system
The other controls are to be read without an adapter

And whether your ELM can read the other controllers comes to your
ELM Interface.
Because with some problems in the CAN bus has Multiecuscan area
this can be found here some

Thanks for the link ... I'll search.

You know whether this case the ABS does not work on CAN-BUS protocol?

Hello

That is correct
ABS is not read with CAN bus, therefore, an adapter is needed!

All others in the picture nr. 3 controllers are specified but via CAN Bus
read with these controllers also no adapter is needed.

I am confused as to the connections described in the "Supported Vehicles" section, why pin 1 (ABS) should be permanently connected to pins 7, 9 and 12. But, for Punto EVO pin 9 should not be connected to pin 1. I connected pin 1 to pin 7 but ELM327 does not connect the ABS and multiecuscan report that is necessary adapter 1.

Please, if you can answer some questions:

1- Does ELM327 1.5A adapter is incompatible with Bosch ABS 8 of Fiat Punto?
2- If I connect pins 1, 7, 9 and 12 together I can damage the ECU or the ELM327 adapter?
3- Did not work because I should have connected pins 1, 7 and 12 together?

Thanks!

First of all there is difference between ABS system on Punto Inter. and Punto Evo.
The first one uses a little bit older version of ABS system and the second one uses newer version of ABS system.
Q&A:
1. I do not have an ELM 327 ver. 1.5 so I do not know that, but ver. 1.4 should work.
I would use a KKL interface and adapter 1 (green) and than try to connect with ABS on Punto Inter.
2. No. I do not think that you can make damage or to the ECU or to the ELM interface.
Just always try to follow instruction in supported vehicle list. If on some ECU you do not need and adapter just do not use it.
3. No. It is not important to have all pins soldered together (1+7+12).
You can only have pin 1 and pin 7 connected together.

Thanks for the reply. I may have found the reason for the ELM327 1.5a not work with ABS.

In the "Supported Vehicles" section it is shown (adapter cable 1) that the pin 16 of the male connector must connect to pin 16 of the female connector.
However the pin 16 of the male connector (ELM327 1.5a) is not connected to the circuit, in other words the pin 16 is disconnected from the circuit.

Can this be the reason?

Hello

About the pin 16 gets the interface power supply
Without the work, the interface can not.

I also have an ELM v1.5 (in plastic case) that works without error.
But there are also v1.5 in Aluminum housings like these is
I can not say

Hello

Now it becomes clear why it is not working.
You've confused the pins and counting started from the wrong side.
