97 Barchetta Airbag

I have a VAG KKL cable plus three pin adaptor,everything is correct serial port 2 ,interface found but when I try to connect all I ever get is ECU not connected.Its a TRW airbag are these not covered by Multiecuscan?or any other ideas I tried connecting pins 3 and 7 but it made no difference.
