I've installed the FTDI 2.02.04 WHQL driver. In Device Manager it reports as correctly installed and working. It shows as USB Serial Port (COM1) and the settings are:

Bits per second: 9600
Data bits: 8
Parity: none
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: None

USB transfer sizes:
- Receice / Transmit: both at 4096

Latency timer: 1ms
Timeouts:
- Read / Write: both at 0ms

And from miscellaneous options only Serial enumerator is on.

I've also tried the latest VCP driver (2.08.30) from that page and it shows the same.

As for 3-pin connector, I've applied 12V on red wire and black one on mass.

I've done everything by the book and still nothing.

Hello

Check it again if the adapter is working.?
For your information only describe the function of the interface
but if you have a connection to the ECU is not thereby ensures

Times or wiggle the plug if the connection is given.

Sorry for the question 8-)
Is in the ignition on ? (Dashvoard lights)

Yes the ignition was on. I even tried starting the car with no results.

I've already tried several times to disconnect all cables, reconnect them and reinstall drivers, and restart MultiEcuScan. Always the same result.

Hello

Hmmmm :?: and do you also use the connector from the ECU?
Is the same connection error even with ABS or airbag?

Hi prime.4alpha:

Same interface, same Multiecuscan´s version, same cables/adapters AND THE SAME PROBLEM. I´ve tried a lot of configurations, parameters and combinations, but always get the same response on the test interface:

"VagCom/KKL

Testing latency with 200 bytes of data...
The operation has timed out ".

Remarks:
- VAG KKL plugged and identified in my the laptop as "USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM3)"
- The male 3 pin Cable adapter plugged in the car´s female diagnostic plug, the red cable connected to positive and the black one connected to negative in the car´s battery.
- The ignition is on and the dashboard lights are on.
- The car is a Marea 2.0 20v petrol, with Bosch Motronic 10.2.4 ECU.

I´ve tried to access the VAG KKL using Hyperterminal and Putty, but when the session opens, i can´t type any AT command to test the interface.

Help me, please

Problem solved !!

My 3 pin adapter connects chassis ground (battery negative) to pin 5 of female OBDC conector, but KKL Vag-com needs this connection to pin 4 (5 is idle). So, I made the bridge like follows:

The other side of the board:

Now, everything is working fine. So, if you must use this combination of cable adapter/KKL Vag-com interface be carefull about this pinnage issue.
