can not calibrate steering angle sensor

Post by iammen » 29 May 2011, 14:18

Hello,

After building in my steering column i have a asr/esp fault. The fault appears when i turn the steering wheel( even when standing still)

Now i think i just need to calibrate the steering angle sensor. but when i execute the calibration FES says status: unknown and stops.
What am i doing wrong?

I have FES 2.8.2 registered version.

Did you replace the steering column?
There are 3 models of steering columns in Stilo and if you replace it then you have to use the same model.

What are the error codes? Probably steering angle sensor error?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I haven't replaced the column. The garage said there was play in the column, so i removed the column and tested it. It turn out there was no play in the column, but in the steering rack. so build the original steering column back in and now have the asr/esp failure, that starts when i turn the steering wheel.

There are no fault codes in the steering computer. But in the ABS computer it says steering angle sensor fault.

On January 2011 i replaced the steering wheel for a leather one. That time i also had problems with asr eps. But then the car was breaking when taking a corner. I bought FES, and could calibrate the steering angle sensor, and the problems where gone.

Now i tried all three options to calibrate, but all said status unknown.

I can drive normal now, only the asr/esp light is on. Not the steering light.
