No connection to the ABS with an ASUS Netbook

Post by Alfaeddy » 20 Mar 2011, 20:57

Hello
I can use a netbook ASUS 1005 HA, 1 GB RAM, 2x800 MHz CPU N280, Windows XP and FES 2.7.2 registered
no connection with the chapter 5.3 to access my Alfa 156 Bj 1998th

At the controls of the ECU and airbag connection works well only for ABS can not I connect with my other laptop MEDION 4 GB RAM, Intel CPU 2x2, 2 GHz Windows Vista64

I get the same KKL Interface immediately connect to all controls. ECU, ABS, Airbag What are the reasons I\'m doing with the netbook not connect to the chapter 5.3 get? But with the laptop it works without problems

Thanks for your help and answers

Greetings Eddy

Is your laptop (netbook) 2 core with 800MHz each? It may be that since as FES documentation states you should have ~1.5GHz CPU on computer.. :?:

FES 2.7.2 works on my Acer ONE gen.1 with Atom N270@1.6Ghz and WinXP

Thank you for your answer
Yes, the ASUS is a 1.6 GHz processor with 2x800 MHz I am only surprised that I can access the ECU and airbag,
but not on the ABS
Think the better is a processor with at least 1.5 GHz to have as a Duo processor (2x800 MHz) to take 1.6 GHz?

I forgot to mention that I haven't tested it with my Bravo 1.2/80 ABS ECU since as far as I know It doesn't have such :) My connection to my Airbag and Engine ECUs are working good as far as I have tested. Did you try to put lower bps rate, lets say 4800 bps? And lower that "latency" time to minimum as stated on "How to use" page.. Or higher bps maybe..

I needed to lower the bps to 4800 to get the KKL adapter work on basic mode (fault codes and such - engine off), haven't tested it with "live" data yet, (I have had no time and need so far.)

Hope you get it working.

Hi
Yes, I have tried the settings as indicated.
And the baud rate is 4600, I have also tried other baud rates, without success.
The connection problems are only the ABS, other controllers can read.
And only with the ASUS netbook with my larger laptop everything works. I suspect that it indeed depends on the processing power, but why only on ABS?
A friend can not connect at all with his Acer 1.6 GHz. With the desktop everything works.

Very strange?
Thanks Eddy

Hey have you tested newest drivers for FTDI chip (virtual COM port drivers.). What I have understood that it's de facto standard chip and driver on these VagCom KKL USB interfaces.
I just read some "latency too high errors" reported on www.alfabbs.fi and in that case more on date drivers solved the issue, no info about used FES nor computer tho, but it were connecting to ABS/airbag, post were one year old..
Just thought if you haven't tested.

Hi
Yes. I\'ve downloaded the latest drivers FDTI, unfortunately without success I just do not understand what they have found the guys at alfabbs.fi.
My language skills are not so good
I also think it is because the driver FDTI not I come to the airbag ECU and the ABS is not only to read.
In other PC it works without problem

Thanks Eddy

it can't be a processor issue...

Come one guys :)
It's like every other softwares.

If your processor is lower then 1600, FES could run slower....nothing else.
It's like a videogame.. :D

Hi

This I think, too, should be sufficient processor.
Only to what it is otherwise?
If only the ABS is not to read.
And it can not lie on KKL Perhaps there anyone out something

Thanks for your help
