@steph48
You don't have OK for all commands!
See ATS0 and ATCRA...
This means that your ELM is actually v1.2

On the circiut board mine has version 1.2a but when the service reset was free it did that alright.

Depending on the make, the version number of the circuit board may not be a good guide.

I'm sure I have a version 1.2a PCB but with a genuide Elm V1.4 chip.

To my knowledge there were NO electrical circuit changes required to support either and Elm V1.2 or V1.4 chip.

This means that V1.2 PCB boards will be used with V1.4 chips still stock runs out. At this point I would reversion the PCB even if it were identical to the previous one.

Yes that's right the circuit it is not so change but there one change.
In to the 1.2 PCB ( clones ) you must to make some changes to work on 34800 baud becasue it is seted just for 9600 baud. It can be fixed.
If you use a PCB for 1.3 to you can change the chip with an original ELM327 v1.4, because it is the same. Ok there is a small change in elm327 v1.4 PCB to reduce power.
Good luck

I have only one difficult with ELM327 1.3a: when I am connected with ECU in Multiecuscan 2.4.1 (key is in MAR position) and start the engine, FES immediately disconnect from ECU if in "Parameters section" some item is checked... In the case when engine starts and after that I perform connection between FES and ECU, all will be OK. Is it normal? Or I can to try change in my netbook device manager (interrupt adjustment, etc...)?

That is normal behaviour for ELM interfaces. They are very sensitive to low power supply and disconnect immediately when the power supply voltage drops below 12V (this happens when starting the car).

Hello,

Another cheap 'Chinese clone', from eBay (UK seller, not china or HK), received 3 days ago.
It was sold as ELM 327 1.4 'with a genuine ELM chip'. :?
(For my personal information, I would really like to recognize a genuine ELM chip from a fake one)

Actually everything is working well FES wise, which makes me think it is actually an genuine ELM1.4
- NO communication problems, all ECU are recognized.(Airbag and steering not tested, pins 1-7-9 not soldered yet)
- NO problem to get access to service reset.
- NO installation problem. Just the drivers for FTDI USB to install.

PCB is quite different (named 'USB V3.0') from the versions pictured on previous posts

On the last pic we can see the 100 Ohm resistors (R25/R26) for CAN H/L lines with associated capacitor (C14/C15)
Same combo shown by members in the last posts.

Hope it can help you to find the correct interface

Best regards

It is OK if this behavior is normal, but this is uncomfortable for me.
Do you have some recommendations about hardware solution of this problem (additional power supply line, for example)?
Maybe will be helpful information that problem doesn't appear if I am connected and no items in "Parameters" section are selected...
