Can you help me with this interface, please? Which resistor should I remove? Thank you.

Hi, I'm new of this forum. I recently bought 2 obd scanner, identical to those that bought Zafron. The attached photos are of zafron reply.

Both the scanners work on my kia rio. I bought one of these scanners (it is already the second unfortunately!) for my brother, who has an alfa romeo 159. I have no idea if my scanners work or not on alfa 159, but the PCB and components are 100% identical to those of the photo. I not opened they because there are no screws but is glued, but it is clearly identical looking from the transparent blue plastic. Zafron, even your scanner were glued? Someone else bought a scanner like this, that works? Maybe they realized that the firmware is bugged (if is only a firmware problem) and they solved the problem. Torque is not able to read the version of the ELM327, the "interface version" voice remains empty and both the scanners have the same MAC address, but this is not a big problem.

I hope not to have taken another scam. Is already the second that I buy for my brother. First I bought a Vgate iCar2 (paid 20 euro!) and also this did not work on alfa 159 but on my Kia Rio yes.

Hello blkid

I have often written that, and this time it is also true
The engine control unit of the Alfa 159 is not on the CAN bus
Read protocol.
And thus no resistor is the problem that you can not read the motor control of the Alfa 159.

Yes i understand that is not a problem of CAN reading the thread, but zafron reports that is not able to connect to nothing with this scanner on his fiat car:

I bought it as 2.1 version. Torque pro doesn't report the interface version. On my rio works and read all the parameters, but zafron report that not work at all on his fiat car. This is why I asked if anyone else had bought the same version of the scanner. I apologize for my questions that may seem surprised, but I cannot try now the scanner on 159 of my brother and also I would like to avoid another fool.

Thanks for the support.

ELM-327(cut):-BK3231Q + MCP2515 + TJA1040
ELM-327(full):-Bluetooth(BC417+29lv800c) + PIC18F2480
The price is identical, not more than $5

I tried on a Fiat punto mk2 1.9 JTD, year 2000 and is not capable to connect at the ecu :( .I begin to doubt that it works on the alfa 159 :/

To all who can not connect I advise making a Scan Interfaces and post the result here. It can happen with Chinese interfaces appear an "extra" interface that does not physically exist but need to be configured logically.

It doesn't work also on an alfa 156 1.9 jtd M-Jet 140cv, so is a flawed clone :(

For anyone who comes across this obd, analyzing the diagrams of cxem post, i think i found the resistor on the cam Line. Is the R27. In that diagrams is also visible that the J1850 obd Pins are not connected and i think is this the reason why is not able to connect to the ECU of the fiat car I tried.

I attached the schema. On canH and can L are present, as described in the first post, for each line 1 resistor in series with a capacitor to ground, but is also present the R27 between the 2 can line and i don't know if is correct. Removing it does not solve the problem of connection to the ECU but maybe it could work connecting via multiecuscan for additional units/service/etc.

In any case I have to buy another scanner :(

blkid: Can you show a picture of which pins of the ODB connector are connected?

Unfortunately no. As I wrote the photos that I have used are not mine. I have not disassembled the scanner because the top is glued and i've also requested a refund. I only found that the card is the same as the photo of Zafron, looking through transparent blue plastic, and also identical to the cxem post (http://forum.cxem.net/index.php?showtopic=144556), in which there are more photos of the PCB and the diagram that I reported. We should ask at cxem or zafron if they took pictures of plug and wires.
