Sorry to aks, as I read the post again and OP (orginal poster) mentioned that this should be for those who can connect but cannot connect to Can.

Well in my case my ELM327 is connecting through BT to my N900 and but giving the error when connecting through N900 software (CARMAN) and log file which is written in my above posts could be read.

But it connects fine with my laptop and android phone.

Shall I assume that I should do what OP did?

or Am I completely off from the topic?

cheers.

Personally I wouldn't even bother (as it works with your laptop) but all the info you need is in this thread if you do want to go ahead with the RC mod.

It's a fair bit of messing around and I suspect it wont work anyway :(

Argo thankyou for your resistor 14 mod, just one question do i still need to carry out mod with resistors and caps,
as my elm 1.4 is working fine now as i moved can lines to 1 9 for punto evo 1.4 8v. anyone shed any light on this

Mine works fine without but I suppose if you're keen then it's worth doing the RC mod as it will likely provide better protection to the interface.

  • Bought the cheapest ELM327 interface from eBay (actually V1.4)
  • Disassembled and found I had the board below.
  • Using a craft knife I carefully destroyed the 120ohm resistor (R04 on the board). Be careful you don't damage R17 just beneath it.
  • Resembled and it works a treat!

I have the same interface... Just few more questions for you:
- Did you removed only R04 resistor and ELM 327 interface worked OK with CAN line? or
- Did you removed the R04 resistor and installed 2 resistors of 100 Ohm and 2 capacitors of 560 pF on CAN line (pin 14 and pin 6)? or
- Did you removed the R14 resistor and installed 2 resistors of 100 Ohm and 2 capacitors of 560 pF on CAN line (pin 14 and pin 6) as Yani described in this topic on first page?

my ELM interface CAN mode is up and running now after adopting Yani's fixes. thanks to all.

I have a LANCIA YPSILON 1.2 8v ecu marelli, year production 2003

I can get into each module, also service interval, and proxy alignment, but, when i try to RESET the service, i get an error : reset failed.

WHY ? is because of faulty elm 327 or is not possible on this car to reset the service ?

i checked. in my ypsilon there is not service reset warning light.

i have checked 5 different version of elm 327 1.4/1.5

all were working through CAN,except for one that was with a resistor 121 ohms between PIN 6 AND 14

i tried two combination, just "dirty" solution, taking away the resistor --> everything working ok

Yani solution --> everything working ok

i think that the dirty solution is working without problems.

all the last shipping from china ( i am an ebay reseller ), are ok, respect the original ELM 327 specification

i guess that in CHINA they have understood that the previous version of ELM 327 were faulty..... i guess this, because all new interfaces are correct, and i have different suppliers
