Thank you very much! I did removed the R04 and the interface is working! Tested on some Alfas and Fiats and it is OK!
Cheers ;)

hi friends

i have elm327 v1.4 this interface on foto :

http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/913/img0431q.jpg

http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/7148/img0432h.jpg

i read from multiecuscan, on fiat 500 i can connect fine ecu but can't reset service oil
on multiecuscan i read it :
ELM C19 - ELM 327 v1.3+ interface with ADAPTER CABLE 3 (or modified interface with CAN lines connected to pins 1 and 9 instead of 6 and 14)

so i check my interface , and don't see pin connected on 1 - 9 but in 6 - 14

so i made shint 6 to 1 or remove pin 6 to pin 1 ?

what you think ?
thank you

  • Bought the cheapest ELM327 interface from eBay (actually V1.4)
  • Disassembled and found I had the board below.
  • Using a craft knife I carefully destroyed the 120ohm resistor (R04 on the board). Be careful you don't damage R17 just beneath it.
  • Resembled and it works a treat!

I have the same interface... Just few more questions for you:
- Did you removed only R04 resistor and ELM 327 interface worked OK with CAN line? or
- Did you removed the R04 resistor and installed 2 resistors of 100 Ohm and 2 capacitors of 560 pF on CAN line (pin 14 and pin 6)? or
- Did you removed the R14 resistor and installed 2 resistors of 100 Ohm and 2 capacitors of 560 pF on CAN line (pin 14 and pin 6) as Yani described in this topic on first page?
Hi, i have this deviсe too, and i want ask yani. what you think about it? Whether it is necessary to put these details in the given instrument?

I have this elm interface. I cannot connect to can with my fiat doublo.i already make the pin changes (elm 19). It looks ok. Does it make sense to make yanis changes( r25 and r26) so maybe i can connect. Or is it possible to do the "dirty way " destroying r24.
Thanks for help in advance.

I have question.
If I remove resistos R4, my ELM can communicate with other cars (not Fiat) ?
I use ELM to Ford and Opel too.
Is it possible to add switch and on/off this resistor when I need it?

- NO communication problems, all ECU are recognized.(Airbag and steering not tested, pins 1-7-9 not soldered yet)
- NO problem to get access to service reset.
- NO installation problem. Just the drivers for FTDI USB to install.

On the last pic we can see the 100 Ohm resistors (R25/R26) for CAN H/L lines with associated capacitor (C14/C15)
Same combo shown by members in the last posts.

Hope it can help you to find the correct interface
I have exactly the same interface (I compared it with each of your photos carefully), however it does not work with my Fiat Grande Punto. When doing tests with Multiecuscan 2.7.1 I got:

COMMAND: ATBI
RESPONSE: CAN ERROR

(the earlier tests were all OK, I cut out only the final fragment with error)
Do you know what can be the cause, since it's not that resistor problem in this case?

Maybe your BT elm327 have old 1.2version and you canot connect to can line.Only if you change PIC with 1.3 or 1.4 version.
