ELM327 connection problem

Post by cde » 20 Aug 2010, 22:18

Hi,

Could someone help me, I have a ELM327 cable v1.3a and I connect pin 7 to 1 and pin 7 to 9 to gain access to ABS and Electric Steering ECUs, but when I try the connection the following error appears --> ELM327->ECU Connection failed.
The settings are ok 38400 for ELM cable in Multiecuscan program and 9600 to com port and when I connect to Engine, Service, Body, Dashboard ECUs everything is ok. The car is a Fiat Stilo 1.6.
I will appreciate some advice to connect to the ABS and Electric Steering ECUs... :?:

Tks

Hi, I have an update which may help others on this forum, (which incidentally is the best one I have ever been on).
My OBD Plug had the pins numbered wrongly and so I had wired my DIP switch incorrectly.
The correct numbering is as follows:-
As you look at the soldered pins side of the socket where the wires connect and with the widest part of the socket at the top.
Number 1 pin is on the top left. Number 8 pin is on the top right.
Number 9 pin is on the bottom left. Number 16 pin is on the bottom right.
Now I can see and can connect to the ABS as well as the Engine ECUs but not the Body ECU.
The Engine ECU will connect at 9600 or 38400 Baud.
The ABS ECU will only connect at 38400 Baud.
This is via the K lines to the ECUs.
Thanks to Yani for a superb piece of software. Regards ~ Chris"

Thanks croydonchris :D
