Cannot connect to Airbag TRW

Post by barchett » 20 Jun 2010, 13:35

I wanted to reset my TRW airbag in my barchetta, but I can't connect to my airbag.

I tried 2 different VAGCOM cables, 2 different laptops with XP and W7, but of no avail.
I have 12v on pin 16, the ground from the airbag connector to pin 5, the K-lin of the airbag connector to pin 7.
Timeout or latency thingy set to 1, buffer to 16, no succes....

What can I do next?? The interface works perfect, it works on VAG-cars with VAG-COM, so that's not the problem....

Same problem here, tried to connect to a 1998 Punto's > TRW MY97' Airbag < and doesn't connect with the Vag-com and the 3-pin cable,

I tried and i can connect to its ABS ecu though, through the same cable combo (K-Line and 3-pin)

And this damn ARibag light in these old cars doesnt erase in other way except with diagnostic eqment.
Some programs were saying to do some tricks by grounding some pins, but that didnt work either...

For the airbag try ctrl+F10 to connect. I can connect to the ecu this way and reset errors.

There will be a fault message during connection like wrong iso code for the system or something like that, but it works.

Edit: It's symulation mode. I dont really know if its reading the ecu actualy. So, i cant read the TRW MY97 also i think.

CTRL+F10 is simulation mode, so it's not actually connecting to the car.
It just shows you made-up data so you can see what options the software would expect to see on a given control module.

What is tha part nr on your airbag ECU unit? Some early TRW units are not supported by MES as far as I know.
Have a look here: http://www.peter-feil.eu/~peter/obd/trw2scan/
