Engine Type Details

Post by rroope » 27 Apr 2023, 06:53

There are 15 types of engine listed in "Engine Type" listing, but nothing for the 1.4 135 Turbo MultiAir, and the 1.2 8v (Type 1) triggers "CNG Fuel Needed".

Is there a definitive and correct list of engine details for these?

Thanks

Yeah thanks for that, all the ECU's scanned are covered.

What I mean is on the Proxi Alignment feature, the engine types listed are:
"Engine Type: Diesel / Gasoline
On Simulation Mode, it even shows the Engine Type as Diesel with the engine listed as Type 5/1.4 16v Turbo Abarth - which of course is Petroll (Gasoline!)

Engine Type (Second Option Field)
Not defined - what does this do?
Type 1/1.2 8V I set the Ypsilon 1.2 8V to this and it was saying "CNG Fuel Required"
Type 2/1.4 16v
Type 3/1.3 Multijet I'm sure this is what the above mentioned Ypsilon was set to but putting it back brings ABS Unavailable
Type 4/1.3 Multijet What's the difference to Type 3?
Type 5/1.4 16V Turbo Abarth
Type 6/0.9 MultiAir
Type 7/0.9 MultiAir
Type 8/1.4 16V MultiAir does this include Turbo MultiAir??
Type 9/1.4 8V FlexFuel CNG fuel as per Type 1?
Type 10/1.4 16V MultiAir FlexFuel
Type 11/1.4 Turbo Abarth
Type 12 No details given
Type 13 No details given
Type 14 No details given
Type 15 No details given

This is where I believe the problem is with the Ypsilon (saying ABS unavailable) and the MiTo (no DNA system working). FIAT Main Dealer say they cannot get to this level of access!

Thanks

Engine type is such informative value, and there are just 15 types of engines just because of space of hexadecimal coding of one byte
Some values have more variants of engines

Right I’m getting it now! So any idea how I can edit the custom proxi of the following cars to correct the ABS issue?
1. Chrysler UK / Lancia Ypsilon 1.2 8v 2012
2. Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.4 Turbo 135 MultiAir

I can post custom proxis if necessary.

Please help!
Thanks

as @chrener wrote, under single "Type" could hide many engine variants.
you might try AlfaOBD - it has wider description for "engine variant" or you could visit dealer and ask for BCM update and proxi restore.

See that’s what I did ask for (the Proxi restore) but I was told no such option exists! “You can only go forwards, not backwards” was what I was told :(
