Unclearable Code

Post by dwnbyriver » 20 Aug 2015, 21:22

Would it be possible for a function to be added, that could delete or disable a code from the ECU?
This would be useful where a fault has developed in the wiring loom, but will not harm the engine by doing so.
I have a P0480 code which cannot be cleared, yet the fan runs, and the engine maintains normal temperature.
I have seen adverts for software which can do this.

I don't think MES will be able to do this.

MES is not able to reprogram an ECU's executable code/map.

The normal ECU executable code, unless modified will detect and signal all faults found.

It may be that some ECUs have an "ignore" table that could possibly be updated??????

Have you testes all the fan speeds? Fan resistor is often the cause, and without one speed everything seems to work fine.
