[FIAT BRAVO '07 1.9 MJET 16V] Torque sensors calibration

Post by A. Mugnano » 16 Mar 2011, 21:54

Hi Yani,

I have a FIAT BRAVO '07 1.9 MJET 16V and after a *heavy* engine tuning upgrade (230cv and 460nm), a diagnosys reports an error about torque calculation classified as "P091B - Torque Calculation Internal Error" with MIL status ON.

I'm wondering if in the next Changelogs there will be a section about the calibration for the Engine Torque Sensor, for above vehicle and, if you know the exact location of this sensor on the engine compartment.

Thanks you in advance,

Alessandro M.

There isn't a torque sensor, the estimated torque is calculated from the rpm sensor using a dedicated algorithm. So I think that the error you report is given by another component...

How can you say that power/torque of your car are of 230cv/460Nm? Without modifying it, the gear support only the original torque, with 460 Nm of torque gear and clutch must have serious problems in a little time!

The internal torque is calculated from engine speed (sensor) and the injected fuel quantity. So if you have problems with diagnosis I gues you don't modify your ECU (remapping) but put on a tunning box which only trimms the sensor values (normaly the rail-pressure). Without remapping you won't be able to delete the error.

Tom

P.S. Have a look on my remapping side.

Because the dyno test said this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gBY4eeCHho

you're right...the car has 227hp and 459nm not 230hp and 460nm :)

i've changed turbo (garrett gt2256v), intercooler, exhaust manifold, air filter , downpipe , reinforced clutch, complete exhaust and a ECU remap.....anyway the gearbox it's stock and work fine :D
The problem is the error described above ( "P061b" ). The error light turn on again ( even after deleting the error) as soon as turn the car on and go to full throttle.
we made many dyno tests even upgrading the boost pressure but the result is the same, the torque never get over 459nm and the error light turn on.....so we think ther is a "torque limiter" or something like this.

thaks all for comments/suggestions :)

Try to make a measurement with FES (rpm, fueling, railpressure, boost, ...) and I will look into it. maybe I can find a limitation (there are many limitations) in the ecu maps. I think they are the same as mine from Alfa 159.

I gues you are not able to inject more than 100 ml/cyc fuel. Thats the max in the torque to Q map and would correspodent to your 460 Nm.

Oh ok, i will do the measurement soon.... thank you man :)

Use FES to monitoring the engine, so you can try to figure out what is going on...
There is a specific function for it.

anyway the torque value should be calculated from the ecu; because as i know, there is no way to determine the torque on the car.....you need dyno or external device.

so....could it be a ecu-tuning mistake?
your engine is generating more power than the ecu is expecting.

I know that there are some limiters on ecu maps...

mh,so there is no sensor for torque.....well so this week i will do a FES session to monitor engine parmeter and i will post it hoping you will help me to find any possible ECU map's error....

thanks to all for the support, see ya soon ;)

p.s.: sorry for my english, i'm italian :)

Hi,
I've a friend with the same car and the same problem. After an ECU remap, a diagnosis with FES (registered) reports a DTC as P091B. Same for Examiner.

I need torque calibration feature, too.

Is it possible, Yani?

Thanks you,

Gianremo

so, same trouble code.

I got a similar problem once, with a different code, but it came up only one time so i never cared about.

let's see what mugnano will get...

ps.
i'm italian too xD
ciao ciao
