Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 90 KM 2006 Sport troubles ...

Post by fiatbravoemotion » 30 Dec 2010, 16:27

Hi,
I tried to connect with this car using ELM327 1.4. Engine and steering wheel is OK. I can't connect with the same cable and this same session/fresh loading FES, etc, with Service Reset and Can Info. It says that need ELM327 cable/check com port. Everything is ok. When I scanned and tested cable appear a trouble with Airbag. Led is lightning all time and display says "Airbag error, check manual". I tried disconnect cable from battery. There is no success.

I don't know what's it. Why computer says that airbag has an error.

And now I must go to Fiat Service and show about Airbag error, becouse multiecuscan can't do this ...

Have You got any idea?

********************
OK, about connect to Service and Can Info I need cable or adaptor C19. I need answer about Airbag error...

Do you have any modifications in your interface?
The airbag on Grande Punto is connected to pins 1 and 9 and it is not possible to do anything with it without a cable adapter or modified interface.

No, I hadn't any modification. I have this pack http://allegro.pl/hit-pakiet-k-can-diag ... 36259.html . Friend told me, that is very good pack which is used by his friend from Fiat.

I supposed to that was on blue cable with switch. I might to try disconnect cable from body computer when the key was on - engine was stopped. But I only do the tests from application... And there isn't any possibility to do something with airbag ...

Why the option Airbag isn't available with cars with Marelli driver? I see there is no possible to test this components with 500, Grande Punto, Punto Evo, etc.?

I think I know what has happened...
You should not use modified interfaces with short circuit between pins 1, 9 and any other pins. I think the blue interface from your link is modified and has short circuit between 1,9 and other pins.
The short circuit on pins 1 and 9 MAY cause errors on the low-speed CAN bus. The air bag is connected on the low-speed CAN bus so it is very possible that it is giving CAN error.
That should not be a big problem. The warning light and message on dashboard should go away after 20, 40 or 64 (I'm not sure of the exact number) startups.
The next version of Multiecuscan will support Grande Punto airbags. So, after 2-3 weeks you will be able to connect to the airbags.

The blue one is a KKL interface - useless in Grande Punto (it is modified - it has a switch to switch K line between pins 12+13, 1+9, 7 and 3) - you shall never connect it to Grande Punto or other cars with Low Speed CAN bus on pins 1 and 9, the black one with green/blue label is an ELM327 v1.3 clone - it is ok, but for Grande Punto you need to install a switch to switch a CAN-BUS between pins 6&14 (CAN-A) and 1&9 (CAN-B) eventually you might buy an adapter cable.

Now I know about KKL interface :) Good, that everything is OK. About switch to ELM, I wrote to my shop about adapter CAN-A and CAN-B, and I try to buy these. In worst case I do this adapters myself.

Regards :)

I think it was about 20 startups and red warning light and message goes away :)
