where is the security code 5 digits??? and how i can find ?

1. you have to stand in front of your car,
2. than open the hood,
3. after that you have to find the plate where is written chassis number,
4. below that number you will see "ENGINE NUBER xx.xxx"
and that is the number that you NEED!

does this apply for all vehicles? as i have a stilo but i don`t see an engine number with a dot in it.
