Selespeed Clutch self calibration

Post by Entonox » 05 Dec 2010, 13:22

Yani,

The clutch self calibration procedure does noet seem to work in FES. I followed the guideline for the calibration.

- Engine 0ff
- Press execute
- start engine
- do a pickup in 1st gear, acc. pedal 25% pressed
- after 300m turn off engine
- wait 10 sec.
- Turn on key to MAR.

If i follow this procedure, after i press execute and start the car, FES immidiately says executed correctly and that is it. Nothing seems to have changed on clutch behaviour.

Addition to this is that the result code i get with the 'calculate degredation index' is FF.
Is there any list known what this error means?

Seems to me these 2 calibration functions are buggy? anyone experience with this?

Hi,

To make it more clear - this post is about Selespeed CFC209F.

So, anyone with Stilo Selespeed who can comment on this function?

What type of interface do you use?

Yani,

Yes CFC209F is the gearbox i am talking about. I used both the VAG KKL cable and the ELM 1.3 interface. The 'Calculate clutch degredation index' adjustment returns 0xFF, the 'Clutch self calibration' returns 00. But no noticable difference is felt there.

Dou you have a list with error code explanation?

I'm not 100% sure, but the result codes are:
FF - Not performed
00 - Completed successfully

Please note that there is a problem with the ELM interfaces in this case as they usually disconnect when the voltage drops during car start.

Just tested it (again) with the Vagcom KL cable, also error code FF.

Are there any special conditions required to do these tests? i read somewhere that the engine should be hot, in order to execute the tests. They mention that even the examiner system requires the engine to be hot.

i didn`t test this yet, maybe i'll try this in the afternoon. maybe Yani can give some information on the requirements for this test?

Hi,

The only conditions that I have for this procedure are:
- system pressure > 40
- no stored errors
- engine not running

well that seems all ok then, Tried it with hot engine but same result.

Tomorrow i'll get hold of a brand new Snap-on diagnose tester which also should be able to perform both 'clutch self calibration' and 'calculate degredation index' tests. Lets see what i get with this tester so i can compare the results with FES sofware.

Yani (and ofcourse other members),

I update this post as i found new and correct ways to execute the procedures. Requirements before both procedures can be executed;

Requirements
- Engine coolant temp > 80 degr. celcius
- Clutch temp between 20 - 150 degr. celcius
- No errors in engine ECU
- No errors in Selespeed ECU

Procedure sequence
- 2x Clutch bleed
- Enable clutch self calibration or calculate degradation index
- EOL service

Calculate degradation index

1) Put key on MAR,
2) Connect with FES to selespeed ECU,
3) Choose 'calculate degredation index' and press 'execute',
4) switch key to STOP (connection with FES is terminated but this is OK),
5) switch key to MAR and start the engine,
6) set gearbox in 2nd gear (manual),
7) pull up gentle and accelerate in 2nd gear till you reach 3000rpm,
8) brake and stop the car,
9) switch key STOP,
10) switch key to MAR,
11) connect FES to selespeed ECU and check the 'Clutch degredation index' in the parameter section.

You see that the degredation index 'll now be calculated and a different number 'll appear.

Enable clutch self calibration
The 'enable clutch self calibration' option has a different approach. follow this procedure;

1) Key in MAR engine off.
2) Press execute
3) Start engine
4) Wait for 10 seconds, then turn key to stop
5) Turn key to MAR directly after the stop

Some other diagnostic tools note that this procedure must be repeated 5 times. I don`t know for sure if this is true but i think it is worth mentioning.

I ask you again to change this in FES program as other users 'll ask this question again!

No need to thank me, but a free license key would be fine
