I take it all back - this is great software. My soldering was to blame - I had modded my cable and one of the joints had failed. I resoldered the connection, and the software turned the warning lamp out in an instant.

Does this application not cover an Alfa Romeo 156 V6 ECU from 1998? If I install the software, set up the com port, and modify the adaptor (bridging pin 3 to 7) I still cannot connect to turn of the light on the dashboard.
